I completely understand that the thought of sleep training can be overwhelming. There are so many factors that need to be accounted for, which is why as a Registered Nurse & IBCLC, I do a full assessment on your child and look extensively at feeding, development, weight gain, your child’s circadian rhythm, and parenting style to recommend an approach for sleep that suits your individual family.

Frequently Asked Questions

As a Registered Nurse, having merely one method does not align with how I was trained to use the nursing process.

I will assess your child using years of nursing assessment skills and incorporate your parenting styles and goals to determine the best way to help, walking beside you all the way.  You can confidently choose me knowing you have picked a qualified resource to support your family’s journey to more sleep in a way that will feel comfortable for you.

There are many different definitions of “cry it out”, and it is most commonly defined as deciding your baby is going to sleep, putting them in their sleep space, and leaving them there until morning. I wouldn’t recommend this. Supporting your child through this change is important, and so is your comfort level.

Sleep goals and approaches are different for every family. I am committed to ensuring your little one is ready to learn healthy sleep hygiene and utilize customized systems. There are many routes to choose from, including gentle approaches! I do ask that you keep in mind when you make a change of any kind, your baby will likely cry expressing their discomfort as they are learning. Please feel reassured you will be encouraged and taught how to support them every step of the way and that we can choose an approach that you will be comfortable with as we work towards more sleep for your family.

As a Registered Nurse I have a regulatory licensing body which ensures compliance to a standard of practice, code of ethics and conduct, as well as evidence informed care.  My dedication and commitment to my profession, along with my additional credential of IBCLC ensures I provide you with a wide lense to approach sleep from all angles providing wholistic care incomparable to others.

My  Sleep Packages start at 3-4 months old. I provide a full assessment to ensure your baby is developmentally ready to make sleep changes, and most often this is around 4months. This does not mean you need to sleep train at this age. Often, especially for younger babies this means keeping feeds overnight and teaching them to eat whentheir hungry and sleep when their tired gradually decreasing their need to feed during night time hours.

No!  This is a new skill your child is learning, and it does not have to be “all or nothing”.  You can make progress towards your goals by getting out and about during the day — in fact, I encourage it.  Thinking about only your child’s sleep all day and night can be really stressful.  There is a balance to be found, and I will walk beside you to find it. I do recommend avoiding overnight travel during your sleep plan implementation.

No!  As a Registered Nurse & IBCLC I do an in depth feeding assessment to ensure there are no underlying issues which could cause supply challenges down the road and make suggestions based on my findings. I will always take your feeding goals into consideration when building your sleep plan to ensure you are able to meet those goals.

I strongly encourage partners to work together as they teach healthy sleep habits — providing a unified front to your child ensures consistency, and flexibility which is paramount to your success.
