A Passionate Nurse’s Journey to Celebrating TWO YEARS in Private Practice.

Introduction:

As I reflect on the past two years as a private practice nurse, a wave of gratitude washes over me. Serving mothers and families every day has been more than just a profession; it’s been a heartfelt calling I have had since I was a little girl that has allowed me to make a meaningful impact. As I celebrate my 2nd Birthday as The Mama Coach, I want to share the highlights of my journey, the lessons learned, and the overwhelming sense of gratitude that fills my heart.

The Beginning:

Two years ago, I embarked on a scary journey to establish my private practice as a nurse catering specifically to expecting mothers and the transition into parenthood. The decision was not only deeply rooted in my passion for maternal child health, but by my new perspective after entering motherhood myself in 2018. I set out to create positive change via innovative and modern ideas to fill the gaps and improve outcomes by better preparing and supporting families on their transformative journeys.

The Joy of Serving Families:

Every day in this profession has been a reminder of the joy that comes from the work that I do. From prenatal care to postpartum support, and now being able to be there for these families beyond the hospital is so rewarding. The smiles on their faces when they are empowered after advocating for their birth wishes, or the relief they feel when their concerns are addressed reaffirm that the community is right where I am supposed to be.

Building Meaningful Connections:

One of the most enriching aspects of running a private practice is the opportunity to build deep connections with the mothers I serve. I have the privilege of spending more time with each patient, understanding their unique needs, fears, and aspirations. This has allowed me to tailor my care to each individual, fostering trust and creating a supportive environment.

Learning and Growth:

While the past two years have been filled with moments of joy, they have also been marked by challenges that have pushed me to grow both personally and professionally. Balancing the demands of running a business with the emotional weight of the difficulty of creating positive change has taught me resilience and the importance of self-care. Each obstacle has been an opportunity to refine my skills and pivot as needed.

Gratitude:

As I celebrate this two-year milestone, I am overwhelmed with gratitude. Grateful for the mothers who have entrusted me with their care, grateful for the lessons learned, and grateful for the opportunity to wake up every day and continue to do what I love. The support from the community, the heartfelt thank-you notes, and the positive impact on the lives of the mamas I serve are the true measures of success.

Looking Ahead:

The journey doesn’t end here. I am excited about furthering my impact and truly making waves for change via perinatal improvement projects, advocacy and partnerships. The next chapter brings new challenges and opportunities, and I am ready to face them with the same passion and dedication that fueled the first two years. As I reflect on the past two years, I am reminded that this journey is not just mine—it’s ours. To all the amazing mothers, perinatal providers, and supporters who have been part of this community, I invite you to share your stories and experiences. Let’s continue to work together to improve perinatal outcomes and not be okay with the status quo. We truly are better together, and I believe with innovation and flexibility to be and do better, WE CAN!
